The Thread of Time: A Linocut Journey Through Style The Fashionistas is a digital exhibition exploring the intersection of identity, history, and the bold silhouettes that have defined the modern era. In this series of eight hand-pressed linocut prints, Angela Moffat strips fashion down to its most evocative form: the graphic contrast of black and white.

Each piece serves as a visual shorthand for a specific cultural moment from the structured elegance of 1940s couture to the bohemian spirit of the 1970s. By using the traditional, tactile medium of linocut, Moffat honours the craftsmanship of garment making while modernising these iconic looks for a contemporary digital space.

To preserve the integrity and rarity of the work, each image in the exhibition is strictly limited to an edition of only 24 prints. Every piece is hand-signed by the artist, reflecting the exclusivity of the “Limited Edition” culture within the fashion industry itself. The Fashionistas is more than a retrospective; it is an invitation to view clothing not just as fabric, but as the armour and art through which we express our place in history.

The Fashionistas Series: Limited Edition Linocuts – Hand-printed runs of only 24.

About Angela Moffat

Angela Moffat is an Edinburgh-based artist and stylist whose work is deeply informed by a lifetime spent at the heart of the creative industries. A graduate of the prestigious Central Saint Martins College of Art & Design, Angela’s career spans fashion design, advertising, and professional styling for international brands. This rich background provides her with a unique “stylist’s eye” an ability to capture the exact mood, line, and attitude that makes an image iconic.

While her painting practice often explores the atmospheric landscapes of Scotland and beyond, The Fashionistas represents a homecoming to her fashion roots. Through the deliberate, physical process of linocut carving, she translates her expertise in silhouette and form into striking graphic art. Angela’s work is characterised by a blend of technical precision and emotional resonance, bridging the gap between the commercial world of high fashion and the intimate world of fine art.
