This intimate digital installation is a heartfelt tribute to the enduring magic of family and memory, timed perfectly for the Christmas season.

Centred around a poignant photograph of the artist as a small child being held by his beloved Grandad, dressed as Santa Claus, Forever Santa explores the profound connection between a grandson and the man who was, in every meaningful way, his lifelong source of warmth and support.

The exhibition features an evocative voice-over narration where the artist shares memories of his Grandad’s exceptional kindness, guidance, and unwavering spirit. As the words appear animated across the image, they draw a powerful parallel: the Grandad as the ‘Forever Santa’ – a figure of unparalleled generosity, high esteem, and pure, unconditional love that lasted far beyond childhood.

The piece beautifully weaves in the memory of the artist’s Gran, whom he never met, yet whose presence is felt through the profound love and admiration his Grandad carried for her, simply stating she was “perfect.”

Forever Santa is more than a memory; it is a meditation on gratitude and luck – the luck of having such an extraordinary figure in one’s life. It reminds us that the greatest gifts are often the people we cherish most.
